My grandfather played rhythm bones. I inherited the ones he played, but it was not until the seventies when I met Percy Danforth that I met another rhythm bones player. Years later when I was able to escape work to attend Bones Fest III, I could finally meet many other players. I make bones, and am interested in the different sounds that come from different materials. Rhythm bones are portable, so they always come with me on hikes. By listening for echoes, I like to jam with the cliffs and hills. Rhythm bones are a great solo instrument, they can be an aid in meditation, and can make a contribution to many kinds of music
