The first bones playing I ever heard was in the Eighties on “Chieftains 7”. In 1992, I joined a traditional Irish group and learned how to play the bones. I started with a pair of rib bones from the butcher, presently I play two pairs of Nick Driver whalebone bones (to traditional Irish music). My most important influence is the playing of Mel Mercier.
