01 Jan New Rhythm bones Maker
I have a woodworker friend named Dusty Travis. He made me several sets of rhythm bones that I absolutely love. The interesting part is that he’d never made a pair before I asked him, nor did he even know what they were. He knows wood so I knew he could craft them perfectly.
I own about 15 sets (so far) and his are my favorite (wood sets). As you can see from the photos, the Purpleheart bones are steam bent, while the Osage Orange is straight (one set has a notch I requested for holding with my pinky, for 3 fingered grip). I enjoy pairing one of each when playing. It gives me a great feel and sound with a lot of variation.
I did an interview with Travis about this experience and you can read it on my Player Profile Page. Michael Baxter
